Closing with a Song Slippin Sharai Bohannon

Since I schedule, plan far ahead and also try and find appropriate material that my guests are familiar or comfortable with talking about when it comes to these music video episodes, I haven’t been able to touch on the late, great DMX since his passing. In my late teens, early 20s, I was quite a big fan of his music. In a time where I was a metal-head angsty white boy, his music reached me and opened my eyes to the hip hop world of that era. And there’s no better song to show why DMX was a cut above the rest than his personal and deeply open ballad “Slippin'”.

Sharai Bohannon of A Nightmare On Fierce Street returns to share our love of the late hip hop legend and share what it was that made him stand out and like no others before or after him. We dive into the importance of this song as well as the cryptic prophetic nature of the accompanying music video.

Due to copyright and fair use laws as well as Apple and Spotify sweeps for such things, I’m not going to roll the dice and be including a clip of the song in the episode. However, you can watch the entire video before listening right here.

The Brandon Peters Show will return next week with Breaking Away (1979) featuring Carl Doninger (CEO, PopCon)
