In our 3rd part of this retrospective, we kind of begin again. Andrei Tarkovsky considers 1966’s Andrei Rublev as his first film post a cinematic graduation of sorts. The 3 hour fictional biopic is one rich with thematics in philosophy, art, history, human nature and so much more. Tarkovsky’s notable cinematic language and themes of his own are on full display in this first in a run of masterpieces we are about to go through.
Steven Warren Hill once again joins me for this discussion. When this retrospective picks up again we’ll be looking at Solaris from 1972.
