Closing with a Song: Raspberry Beret by Prince and the Revolution

Time to finally get to some Prince here on the music video series. I decided to go with something somewhat whacky combined with just a damn fine song. “Raspberry Beret” was the first thing we received from him after “Purple Rain”. The video is very 1980s loud as well fun and eclectic.

Returning to analyze the fun is Katie Rife from The A.V. Club. We do start out a little off topic talking about CEDs (A very extinct and very obscure home video format), but I kept it because it’s a very “us” conversation and it was fun. But we do talk a whole lot of interesting and fun things “Raspberry Beret”.

Due to copyright and fair use laws as well as Apple and Spotify sweeps for such things, I’m not going to roll the dice and be including a clip of the song in the episode. However, you can watch the entire video before listening right here.

The Brandon Peters Show will return next week with Absentia (2011) featuring special guest Jamie Alvey (Morbidly Beautiful, Devil’s Kettle Drama Club, screenwriter of Bystanders)
