Cabaret holds the distinction of taking home the most Academy Awards at a ceremony and not winning Best Picture. It won 8, including major categories like Best Director, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Cinematography but lost out to The Godfather on the grand prize. Seeing as that film is also turning 50, loads of attention is being paid to it, and rightfully so.
Not that Cabaret isn’t being recognized, but for my show, I wanted to give it its due. Personally, I have corners of the internet with me discussing The Godfather and writing about it already. Cabaret is one of my favorites ever and truly worthy of every bit of awards it “took” from The Godfather.
An impressive film, with an impressive legacy and a whole lot to say. I’ve welcomed show staple Greg McGoon on board to discuss the film and he and I went for damn near 2 hours discussing it. And crazy enough, it’s all super focused and completely on topic. It’s better than I could’ve possibly imagined and I hope you enjoy it.
