I met Pres Maxson at PopCon Fort Wayne back in late December of 2018. Running a live podcast stage with nary a podcast to sign up for, I had to fill it with content and went looking around the convention for talent interested in discussing their work on stage.Pres was more than obliging. Needless to say, we hit it off quickly and had a great conversation you’ll never hear because it wasn’t recorded.
He gave me a copy of his book, Pigeon, which I read during a vacation and fell pretty hard for. I never had the chance to bring him onto my old show, but when I started this one, he was on my roster of guests to have one right away. And before I even could have the chance to ask him, he’d already reached out wanting to come on.
One of his inspirations in writing has been the film, The Day Of The Jackal. When he brought it to the table, I was very excited to have it entered into the canon of the show. And there is a lot to devour when it comes to the film.
While a lengthy episode, the conversation is quite fruitful and plenty introspective. To date, it’s the longest episode of the show (Not counting the Out Now commentaries), edging out The Fog by just 2 minutes.
